Hello!

Why a blog?

Well ... I've been enjoying some really nice blogs here, but when I try to post a comment I cannot get anything to "stick". So I wondered if "bloggers of blog-spot all blog together"! ... and in order to post one you have to be one! M'be! So, in order to prove or disprove that theory, Aussie Oddities has been re-born. If that is not the answer, then - sadly - this might be a very brief exercise and I will have to work something else out. If I stay, it's anyone's guess what will turn up here! I have no real plans!

My father was something of a "wordsmith". He worked for our State evening News. When my brother won a one-year overseas scholarship, my father set up a newsletter to keep family and friends up to speed on Douglas's adventures. He entitled it "Aussie Oddities". I think Dad would have approved of my reviving the name in this context. BTW, the POD defines an "oddity" as "strange person, thing, occurrence". I'm not sure if I'm encouraged by that or not!!

As I was thinking (as one does!) about what to call this new blog, I wondered
"What's in a name?" Hmm.....
"What's in a Name?"
"What's in a word?" Hmm.....
"What's in the Word?"
