Home again, Home again, Jiggity-Jig.

We've just had a week at Port Lincoln where Franklin was doing a locum so that the only Surgeon in town could take a break. That meant more than a handful of challenges for him, and a "patchy" week for me.

I've developed an attachment to the local PnQ shop, The Patchwork Pear http://www.patchworkpear.com.au/. Elizabeth, the young woman who runs it, is a wealth of information regarding PnQ, and generously shares her knowledge with those who gather in her little workshop on Monday and Friday mornings. She's doing her best to sort out my quilting-lifetime of broken rules.

Would you check out all of those pins!! They took me all of Monday morning to insert!! Lizzie is a lot of fun, even if on the last occasion (in November) I took along a quilt project which she described as "ambitious". :D I try!!

I took this photo just on dusk, and if you scrunch up your eyes as in an M2 wink (!) you might see the flock of gulls that were just taking off.

There are just 2 houses between us and this view. It's a really pretty spot.

On Sunday we went to the little Baptist church. They were a precious, friendly little group. We were tickled pink to walk in and see a map of Malawi on the wall! After church I took this photo,

and we thought again of Sue and Virginia. http://chimwemwe-footprints-project.blogspot.com/ and wondered how the preparation for their special dinner on Friday night is coming along.

Before we drove out to the airport we took a walk along the jetty and saw a huge jelly-fish

so we hopped on the phone to our jelly-fish guru, Lisa Gershwin, (as you do!) http://www.medusozoa.com/lgershwin.html but instead of being in Tasmania, she was in Thailand! She'd better get herself home because we're supposed to stay with her in a couple of weeks time. She identified the jelly-fish as a pseudorhiza Haeckeli, which - given time - we might have come up with ... but then again, probably not!!

Well, after all of that I'm feeling a bit jet-lagged :D ... (it was a 30min flight!!) and a busy few weeks coming up, so I'm not sure how postings will go in the immediate.

Back to the birthdays ...

We March-ing Birthday-people ate out last night with those who are not so privileged! Not only that - Virginia has earned her ticket to be numbered amongst the privileged! She is seen here with M1 and J1.
Virginia and Sue brought 3 friends along, "for the ride".
Someone said "origami"! and a piece of scrap wrapping paper was prepared to flap its wings. Waste not, want not!
Happy Birthday to all of my other friends who are also celebrating this month!!
I hope that the rest of you will all be very patient while you wait for YOUR birthdays!! Your turn will come! :D

Progress Report

I decided to hold off printing the Haggadah (or Seder) until we are back from our expedition. But I've done the covers. I can ponder the text while I'm away.

I've put all the music on separate tapes so that I can just drop them in and push the button. I've chosen some nice bright music for people to enjoy while eating their charoseth and horseradish - a new experience for most!#%^&!

Togetherness and Balance!

As with many families, when it comes to Birthdays, one month becomes congested.

In our family it is the month of March.

Franklin and I celebrate with our grand-daughter, her dad and his mother.

We were delighted to receive a greeting from our respectful friends in Kentucky,

and from our less respectful family down south. Nice balance, eh? :D

I guess I was standing on my head when I set my time zone! I'm still finding my feet here!

Now I have it Downunder-friendly!

I am suffering with distractionitis today. I have a week coming up with just me and my sewing machine (by day)! How many 2" squares can I cut up before then??

On the other hand, I am preparing an Haggadah for a pre-Easter Home Group I'm leading on April 3rd.

Common sense tells me to get my priorities right!!

Bother!

I can't get my posting times/dates sorted out! It certainly is NOT 4.39am! (even if it feels like it!)

It was a great day ...

... for the Irish!

Anything for a touch of culture - especially if it involves food! FB and I have just polished off the last of my Shamrock cakes. I did make 12 but kept only 3, and took the rest around to Karen's for an after-school snack. I'll try to upload a photo here to prove the success of the exercise.

I've just realised that one of my favourite authors is Irish. I love the writings of Amy Carmichael, so I'll dedicate my one little cup-cake to her!

I have discovered that when I post on another's Blog, I can do so anonymously!

As I said in my opening Blog, I thought that not having a Blog of my own precluded me from leaving a comment on another person's Blog! Therefore I set this one up!!

Oh!

Now "What to do?"

Well, I can continue to use it as a "think spot".

For example: During this past week there has been a visiting Professor in town. He is from Israel - Jerusalem, in fact. We have been so privileged to spend time with him.

Our hearts have been warmed to hear him mention place names that are so familiar to us, yet that we have only ever read about. He mentioned Jerusalem (his home-town) with the same familiarity as we would speak of Adelaide (our home-town).

We heard that there is a ritual of hand-washing before eating bread at a meal and I thought of clean hands/a pure heart/The Bread of Life. Hmmm.

Last evening as we strolled home after dinner, he spoke of Bethlehem, Nazareth and other places. It was with sadness that we hugged him "GoodBye" and a "Next Year in Jerusalem".

This morning, as we woke, we thought about our new friend who was probably sitting on his suitcase to close it, ready for his return home. From our bedside radio came the voice of Teddy Tahu Rhodes singing "The Holy City", and I thought of "The City of the Great King".

Isn't God good, the lovely treats with which He provides us?
