A new experience!

We carried Passover in our hearts over the beginning of the Easter weekend, and did a lot of pondering about what it was and what it has become.

On Easter Sunday morning we rose early and got ourselves down to the Cathedral by 6am! for what was advertised as "The Great Liturgy of Easter". A new experience for us!

The Cathedral was in darkness, except for a low light up in the organ-loft. By 6am there were about 50 of us huddled in the doorway. There was an air of expectancy as we stood there in silence, with unlit candles which had been given to us on arrival!

Then an amplified voice began to read in the darkness Exodus 15:1 ... the Song attributed to Miriam and Moses - their recollection of what had happened as they crossed the Red Sea. It was just terrific!!

A main candle was lit in the doorway, and the flame was passed around. By now the congregation had swelled to about 100 and as we found our way to our seats the church began to glow with our candles! Not long after that the sun began to shine through the stained glass windows.

As the organ sounded and the choir sang it was truly Awesome!

He is Risen!
